Signs for Smash Daddy, Maroochydore
Smash Daddy is a new burger restaurant opening in Maroochydore, and its signs went up ahead of its opening. We made and installed the shopfront's new signage: a red light box sign above the awning and red dimensional lettering on the shopfront fascia — the pieces a first-time customer reads before they have seen a menu or smelt a burger.
For a new restaurant, that first impression is the signage. The fascia has to be readable from the street and the car park, and once the light box sign comes on, the shopfront has to keep working after dark — which is when a burger restaurant does much of its trade. Both pieces were installed from scaffold at height, above the shopfront awning.
That is why fascia signs and light box signs are planned together rather than ordered separately. The lit and unlit pieces share the same type, scale and placement, so the shopfront reads as one scheme by day and by night instead of a flat sign with a box added beside it.
